Selection of singers almost completed!

After the project partners had done open auditions for Joseph Haydn's "Orlando Paladino" opera in London, Paris, Vienna, Berlin, Ljubljana and Modena, the jury already made a selection. More than 160 singers from all over Europe competed against each other to become a part of the EU project "Purpur - A European Opera Sound". In relation to the last year's auditions for Haydn's "Armida" opera, we noticed a rise in quantity as well as in quality. 

We are happy to announce first results:

Press Conference in Opatija

With great interest a considerable number of journalists watched the press conference on the festival's programme presentation 2013 in Villa Angiolina, Opatija, on 23 April.

The association's president Vjekoslav Martinko, artistic director Michael Fendre and board member Riccardo Marussi (f. l.) presented the high-quality programme, including a concert of L'Arpeggiata, a presentation in the context of the Glagolica project, another opera production and many more.

Purpur - A European Opera Sound – The third EU project in three years!

As one of only three Austrian cooperation projects (Strand 1.2.1) the "Purpur - A European Opera Sound" (EOS) project was selected out of thousands applicants by the European Union. Through this great support this follow-up of the previous "Purpur - European Sound Interchange" project is supposed to be implemented in the period of 01.05 2013 to 31.12.2014 by the coordinator ad libitum and the co-organizers Festival Kvarner, Ars Ramovs (Festival Seviqc Brežice), NEO (New European Opera) and the Associazione Orchestra Sinfonica "Guido d'Arezzo". After "Purpur - European Sound Interchange" and “Glagolica - A European Musical Language” it is already the third EU project the Festival Kvarner Association is involved in as co-organizer or as coordinator (Glagolica). The project is again dedicated to the networking and mobility of musicians. The artistic focus is definitely on Joseph Haydn's last three operas. The working out and several performances of ORLANDO PALADINO, Dramma Eroicomico in tre atti, Hob. XXVIII:11 and L’ANIMA DEL FILOSOFO OSSIA ORFEO ED EURIDICE, Dramma per musica, Hob. XXVIII:13 are planned as well as the revival of the OPERA ARMIDA, which was produced by Purpur in Opatija already in 2012 with two performances at Festival Kvarner. To be continued!

Across Borders

Under the title "Across Borders - The EU Culture Programme's Chances for the Alp-Adriatic-Area" an info event about the European Union's culture programmes took place in Bamberg hall in Villach on 17. January. Our partner ad libitum Konzertwerkstatt and the Cultural Contact Point (CCP) of the Bundesministeriums für Unterricht, Kunst und Kultur (Austrian Culture Ministry) had organised the event in cooperation with the Cultural Contact Point Slovenia and the EACEA - Executive Agency for Education, Audiovisuals and Culture to make it easier for artists and promoters in Carinthia and its neighbour countries to do the step and apply with a culture project for a support by the future programme "Creative Europe" (2014-2020). The speakers Elisabeth Pacher, leader of the CCP Austria, and Mateja Lazar, leader of the CCP Slovenia, had handy tips for the implementation of EU-applications and presented their institutes, which were established for promoting the European Union's culture programmes and for supporting the applicants. Afterwards Michael Fendre presented the, already finished, EU project "PurPur - European Sound Interchange", which was implemented successfully in cooperation with the Festival Kvarner (CRO) and the Festival Seviqc Brežice (SLO) during the last two years. The conclusion was done by Emil Krištof from the Universitätskulturzentrum UNIKUM with a presentation of the EU project "Klopfzeichen/Colpi/Potrkavanje"....
