The unique health resort Opatija (Italian Abbazia,
German Sankt Jakobi) is one of the oldest foreign holiday resorts in Croatia.
The town is located on the Kvarner Bay and is part of the Primorje-Gorski kotar
county. Opatija is at the foot of the Učka mountain and is about 18km away from
Rijeka.
How to get here by car
Car:
Go from Ljubljana (motorway) and continue in the
direction of Postojna, take the Postojna exit and then you will come to the
border area of Rupa (Slovenia - Croatia) about 65km further up the road, from
there the motorway goes to Opatija.
